The Blank Page

I often think of that blank page in the Bible that separates the Old and New Testament. It represents 400 years when God didn’t speak, where there was no visible sign of God in the earth at all. We refer to this period of time as “The Silent Years.” There were plenty of things happening during this time and yes, God was still in control. With all the struggles of life sometimes it’s hard to see God. It’s easy to wonder what he’s doing while we are struggling. We ask questions like “Why God,” or “Why did you let this happen?” Sometimes it may feel like we are experiencing our own blank page where God seems absent. I assure you that God is not absent. God is still speaking and still in control.
I think the blank page between Malachi and Matthew is symbolic of how God works behind the scenes, setting in motion his plans that are so much better than anything I can even imagine.
“And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”” Deuteronomy 31:8
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
